..and you thought I wasn't coming back!

Sorry for the huge absence but you know what they say about absences.

Well it seems like over the last few months the story has taken root that biofuels will completely starve the third world out of existence and probablty accelerate AIDS as well. I also read that using biofuels can cause infertility, or is that just wishful thinking on behalf of the Chinese?

Now a more cynical fellow than me might just suspect the whiff of intervention from the mega - global - stupendously powerful and mighty oil industry at work here. There big and they're clever and this argument against biofuel is a stonker.

How clever?

How could any fair and right minded person be seen to argue for biofuel after that allegation!

Ah well, better just get on with raping the last of the worlds oil resources then. Cheer up, at least most people in the West can still just afford to fill up!

More revelations soon. Stay tuned.

Like you, I see the hand of the huge oil companies behind these scare stories.

They say they want to promote alternative fuels too. But why should they when to do so devalues the 'liquid gold' reserves they have underground.

It is worrying that the media is giving such credibility to these scare stories but, at the end of the day, the oil companies can afford to pay for big ads and the bio fuel home brewers can't.

Located as I am in Minehead, Somerset, I have to drive a long way to get anywhere and am desperate to cut down my fuel costs and bio diesel seems the easiest way.

The one thing that holds me back is my understanding that my Lucas fuel pump is lubricated with the diesel oil and bio diesel is clean and therefore doesn't have this lubricative quality.

My ford transit high top camper van is a 1993 model.

Hi Rob,
If you delve into the world of biodiesel you don't have to go very far before you read about the wonderful lubricity of the fuel. For instance, in France for the last few years they have replaced sulphur in fossil diesel with 5% biodiesel - as standard - at all forecourt pumps. It is also sold as an additive in some european countries specifically for its lubricating qwuality.
From what you say here, you are the perfect person to be making biodiesel. Just think, independance and a cost of around 12p - yes, just 12p a litre!!!
I am just finishing an eBook on how to make biodiesel as a beginner. Perfect for you. Keep watching this space and good luck.
